Chris Laumer-Giddens has been designing Mechanical Systems for single- and multi-family homes all over north america, including Canada and the Bahamas. He enjoys, and has become an expert in, both the creative and technical parts of the design and specification process. Neighbour Cay (Private), Exuma, Bahamas – 5,000 s.f. single family home.

Hayesville, North Carolina – 6,000 s.f. single-family home in the Ridge Mountains. Custom HVAC Design specifying ducted mini-split heat pump system. We’re also working close with the owner and builder to provide a tight, well-insulated building enclosure, as well as the HVAC contractor to ensure proper installation of the system. Potomac, Maryland – 11,000 s.f. single-family residence. WaterFurnace ground source heat pump (a.k.a. geothermal) system. Specified new 7 series inverter compressor (a.k.a. variable refrigerant flow VRF) air handlers to handle up to 4 zones. (Client: Builder-Owner)

Bloomfield Township, Michigan – 10,000 s.f single-family lake front home. Collaborated with Northeast Radiant Technologies to design and specify complete hyrdonic heating and cooling system using ground source heat pumps. Custom air handlers with re-heat coils to manage humidity in both Summer and Winter (indoor pool, sauna and water features will generate larger than normal moisture levels in the home). Serenbe Residence – Proud Green Home (Serenbe, Georgia) – Custom HVAC Design for 2,600 square foot new construction home. Chris and Jodi are designing the home as a modern net zero home to be certified as ENERGY STAR, Version 3.0 and EarthCraft House. Specifying Mitsubishi’s MR SLIM Ducted Mini-Split system, with Renewaire ERV. Concept Designs have been approved. Home will be under construction soon. (Client: Builder)

947 Cherokee Ave (Atlanta, Georgia) – Custom HVAC Design for 2,250 square foot new construction home. Chris and Jodi designed the home as a Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR project. Barclay Townhomes (Baltimore, MD) – Custom HVAC Design for the deep energy retrofit of 13 townhomes, ranging from 1,000 s.f. to 3,200 s.f. Specified Conventional Gas Furnaces, Air Conditioners, and 1 Mitsubishi’s MR SLIM Ductless Mini-Split system, with AirCycler Ventilation. Homes are completed, and are certified ENERGY STAR. Hilltop Apartments (Ellicot City, MD) – Custom HVAC Design for the new construction of 26 unit types (multiple buildings), ranging from 800 s.f. to 1,500 s.f. Specified Conventional Gas Furnaces, Air Conditioners, and Ground Source Heat Pumps. Apartments are under construction, and will be certified ENERGY STAR. (Client: Developer)

Chancellor’s Row Apartments (Washington, D.C.) – Custom HVAC Design for the new construction of 20 unit types (multiple buildings), ranging from 1,000 s.f. to 2,000 s.f. Specified Conventional Gas Furnaces, Air Conditioners, and Ground Source Heat Pumps. Apartments are under construction, and will be certified LEED For Homes. (Client: Developer)

Other work from around the country includes a 10,000 square foot residence near Detroit Michigan, that will incorporate Ground Source Heat Pumps served by a Geothermal system, a modern home in near Austin, Texas, that will incorporate Mitsubishi Ducted Mini-Split systems.
